DAY 16: KEEP AN OPEN MIND
[AAYAH]
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِن جَاءَكُمْ فَاسِقٌ بِنَبَإٍ فَتَبَيَّنُوا أَن تُصِيبُوا قَوْمًا بِجَهَالَةٍ فَتُصْبِحُوا عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلْتُمْ نَادِمِينَ
O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and become, over what you have done, regretful.
[Surah Al Hujurat 49:6]
We live in a world today where information is mistreated, misinterpreted and misused at large, especially information regarding our Deen. People have developed a habit of listening and taking in anything that comes to them without caring about it’s authenticity. It is significant to understand that keeping an “open mind” when it comes to matters of Islam or anything related to Islam is merely silliness. Rather, we should have an open mind towards anything unrelated to the religion. The society we live in today is all about freedom and expression. However, we mustn’t forget that our religion has been perfected for us already and the matters concerning the Qur’an and the Sunnah cannot be toyed with. May Allah سبحانه و تعالى grant us the wisdom to better understand our religion so we don’t fall in such ill traps of the society today, اللهم آمين.
