TIPS ON HOW TO WAKE UP FOR FAJR!

Oh, the difficulty in waking up for Fajr is real!
Many of us complain why it’s hard for us to wake up for Fajr. But what we don’t realize is that it’s quite easy to fulfill our first obligation of the day if we understand and follow some really simple tips:

  1. The first and foremost tip is to make niyyah (intention). It is extremely important to have the right niyyah for waking up and that has to be purely for the prayer and for Allah.
  2. Always sleep after making adhkaar (supplications) and twahara (purifying oneself) (whenever possible). This is because Shaitan has a big role to play in making it difficult for someone to wake up for fajr as reported in ahadith.
  3. Sleep as early as possible and cut off anything that prevents you from going to bed early, such as tvs, late-night chats with family members, and most importantly, social media like WhatsApp and facebook. They eat up most of our precious time.
  4. Make sure you take a light meal for dinner. Eating heavily, especially late at night, causes the body to become lazy, making it difficult to wake up in the morning.
  5. Set your alarm a few minutes before prayer time and keep it some metres away from the bed (and not next to your pillow). This stops the bad habit of waking up as the alarm goes and immediately snoozing it. Being away from your alarm ensures that you wake up and move, making it easier for your body to get active and up for fajr.
  6. If nothing else works, inform your parents, spouse, or sibling to force you to wake up by using any means they deem fit. Use this tip with some caution. 😉

May Allah make all our obligations easy for us to fulfill! Aameen.
