بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
ربي اشرح لي صدري و يسر لي امري
One day left to start the last ten days. I hope everyone is prepared to greet the Night of Power!
Dhikr of the Day
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي عَبْدُكَ، ابْنُ عَبْدِكَ، ابْنُ أَمَتِكَ، نَاصِيَتِي بِيَدِكَ، مَاضٍ فِيَّ حُكْمُكَ، عَدْلٌ فِيَّ قَضَاؤُكَ، أَسْأَلُكَ بِكُلِّ اسْمٍ هُوَ لَكَ سَمَّيْتَ بِهِ نَفْسَك ، أَوْ أَنْزَلْتَهُ فِي كِتَابِكَ، أَوْ عَلَّمْتَهُ أَحَدًا مِنْ خَلْقِكَ، أَوِ اسْتَأْثَرْتَ بِهِ فِي عِلْمِ الْغَيْبِ عِنْدَكَ، أَنْ تَجْعَلَ الْقُرْآنَ رَبِيعَ قَلْبِي، وَنُورَ صَدْرِي، وَجَلَاءَ حُزْنِي، وَذَهَابَ هَمِّي.
Allahuma inny ‘abduk ibnu ‘abdik ibnu ammatik naasiyaty biyadik madhin fi hukmuk ‘adlul fi qadhauk as’aluka bikulli ismin huwa lak sammayta bihi nafsak aw anzaltahu fiy kitabik aw ‘alamtahu ahadan min khalqik aw ista’tharta bihi fi ‘ilmil ghaybi ‘indak an taj’alal Quraan rabi’a qalby wa noora sadry wa jalaa huzny wa dhahaba hammy.
Oh Allah, I am Your servant, the son of Your servant, the son of your maid-servant. You hold me by my forelock. Your Decree is what controls me, and Your Commands to me are just. I beseech You by every one of Your Names, those which You use to refer to Yourself, or have revealed in Your Book, or have taught to any one of Your creation, or have chosen to keep hidden with You in the Unseen, to make the Qur’an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my grief, and the reliever of my affliction and my sorrow.
Everyone has ups and downs, even the richest humans on Earth. They don’t see their lives happy, and mind you, they have everything, but money can’t buy happiness. The poor who doesn’t even have a bed to sleep on finds happiness and contentment in what he possesses than the rich person.
Have you wondered why?
Well, here’s the reality: The poor found Allah. He found happiness in ibaadah. He found the nur (light) that the above dua is speaking of. He found relief from distress and all worldly problems by attaching himself to the Book of Allah.
You might say: Well, I also read the Qur’aan, so why don’t I get relieved from my problems?
Sometimes, it is HOW you read the Book of Allah that matters.
Are you the one who reads it as if in a racing car? Are you the one who reads this book as if someone’s chasing you?
Yes! Check the way you read the Qur’aan.
Or are you among those mentioned in this verse:
Surah Al-Furqan, Verse 30:
وَقَالَ الرَّسُولُ يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي اتَّخَذُوا هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ مَهْجُورًا
And the Apostle cried out: O my Lord! surely my people have treated this Quran as a forsaken thing.
May Allah not make us among the ones who migrate away from the Qur’aan.
Someone out there has no eyes to see, no ears to hear, can’t talk, no hands to hold the Book, but tries his best to learn the Words of Allah! Don’t you think this is the time to wake up?! Remember: Every blessing you are given is a test, and you will be questioned on Yaumul Qiyamah about them.
Don’t rush completing reading the Quran in this month and end up without achieving any benefits from between the covers! Reading the Quraan is advisable and completing it is also advisable. That’s true, and there is reward for reciting, too, by Allah’s Mercy.
But wait a minute. What are we searching for? We are searching for contentment, we are looking for that stress reliever so read without haste, ponder and reflect as you read Allah’s words and you will definitely find inner peace.
Action of the Day
Knowledge is like an ocean. Whatever we have is just drops and drops, but remember drops of water can fill a bucket.
Have hope in being an ‘aalim (person of knowledge) someday in this life.
But do you just wake up and become an ‘aalim?Of course not!
We always have things that we have no knowledge of (let alone the world of the unknown) on daily life issues. It might be on something major (such as the rulings regarding Zakah) or something minor.
For today, we will do the following:
1. Put aside some time.
2. Go to various authentic websites. You may use one of the following:
islamqa.info
islamweb.net
sunnah.com
3. Search for various issues regarding the topic you want to know about, but you have been postponing for a while now.
4. Finally, change the words: “I don’t know such-and-such a ruling” to “Alhamdulillah, I know.”
5. If you’re unable to find your answer, you can ask any scholar you know. Perhaps, you can post your question on: http://www.assimalhakeem.net/ask-a-question/
Don’t always stick to the statement, “I don’t know.” No one was born knowing. It comes with efforts to change the statement to “I know.”
Start filling the bucket with drops of “I know.” Someday the bucket might fill. Subhaana Allah! Just imagine being called Scholar so-and-so. That’s a great ni’mah but oce again, also a test from Allah!
