DAY 23: THE WORSHIP OF THE MESSENGER OF ALLAH ﷺ
Allah ﷻ is the most deserving of all praises, worship and thanks. He ﷻ has bestowed upon us a lot of favours in terms of both spiritual and worldly affairs. Allah ﷻ states in the Qur’an, “So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me.” [Surah Al-Baqarah 152]
When anything came to the Prophet ﷺ which caused him pleasure (or by which he was made glad), he prostrated himself in gratitude to Allah ﷻ. [Sunan Abi Dawud 2774 | Grade: Sahih (Al-Albani)]
Ibn Al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) explains how a believer can show his gratefulness towards Allah ﷻ.
- Gratitude of the heart – in submission and humility
- Gratitude of the tongue – in praise and acknowledgement
- Gratitude in physical faculties – in obedience, and keeping away from sins and disobedience
May Allah ﷻ make our hearts turn to Him and make us His ﷻ grateful worshippers.
