It’s funny how we take things for granted, even our own breath;
Allah tells us there is a cure for everything, except our own death.
So be the seekers of knowledge, and make a start;
Find a cure, for the mind, body, and heart;
With this in mind, nothing can tear you apart.
Acknowledge the illness, have sabr, and act quick,
It is only by the permission of Allah that you may fall sick;
It may bring you closer to Your Lord or drive you further away,
I know which way I’d want to sway;
How you react is all part of the test,
Seek help through salah, dhikr, dua, and get some rest.
Make dua you pass the trial of calamity that befalls you in sickness and in health,
For surely, those who seek the cures and trust Allah are the ones He’ll help;
Realise, He is the Cure and the Cause.
“Oh Allah, Al Shafi, we ask for Your Protection from diseases,
Grant us good health, please open up the doors.”
Medicine is from Allah, and only He has the Power to heal,
So unlock those hearts and begin a journey to spiritually feel;
Here are a few spiritual prescriptions ready to start:
Tawhid, sabr, shukur, and tawwakul –
Add them to your life and into your cart.
In Sha Allah, give them a go;
Only then, you will know
How they will benefit you and help you grow.
A spiritual prescription alone will not suffice,
Although that sounds easy and nice;
Our Prophet Muhammad said,
“Trust Allah but tie your camel.”
So aim to be of those doers of action;
Fight, strive, struggle, and see the reaction.
We must remember, as believers,
Trust and actions for the sake of Allah go hand in hand;
We do what we can and leave the rest to His plan.
“And when I am ill, it is He who cures me.” [Qur’an 26:80]
Only those with understanding shall truly see
How the meaning of this ayah can set them free.
For through the teachings and practices of Islam,
Comes right down the answer in the Holy Qur’an.
